| Mann McGowan Pyrohinge strip is an
intumescent strip, 2mm thick, which expands and emits water under the action of heat,
cooling the surrounding parts of the structure. Pyrohinge strips are available in 32mm,
36mm and 48mm widths in 305mm (12") lengths and in packs of 24. Door furniture and
ironmongery being metallic provide a large heat sink. This build up of heat in the areas
of hinges, locks striker plates, door closers and pivot hinges has a detrimental effect on
the fire integrity of a fire resistant door set assembly. In test FR942 conducted at TRADA,
Pyrohinge strips were incorporated behind the S pivot plates of double action hinges, on a
pair of doors 2.45 metres high, 1.9 metres wide, and 44mm thick. The weight of each door
leaf being 70 kgs. Integrity:61 minutes, Stability:67 minutes Insulation: 61 minutes |
